7 luxury restaurants in HCMC’s central tourist district

Anan Saigon Restaurant, located inside an old market on Ton That Dam Street near Bitexco Financial Tower, was named the best restaurant in Asia by industry experts and globetrotters and at this years World Culinary Awards.

The restaurant is famous for its $100 banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) that is topped off with French foie gras, truffles, a traditional garnish of sliced cucumbers, cilantro and mint and served with a side of fried sweet potatoes and caviar.

The restaurant’s banh mi created by the restaurants owner and chef, Peter Cuong Franklin, who wishes to provide diners with a fine dining experience.

Other signature dishes at Anan include banh xeo taco, a dish consisting of banh xeo (central Vietnamese pancake) folded into the shape of a Mexican taco and filled with shrimp and pork, Hanoi-style grilled catfish or beef stew.

The restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Prices start from VND185,000.
