Three years after the global Covid pandemic, Taiwan said that masks are no longer required indoors at all times, though it is still maintaining some limitations.
Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center said on Feb. 20 that masks will still be necessary to be worn in locations like hospitals and medical facilities as well as on public transportation, but won’t be necessary in restaurants or workplaces, the Associated Press reported.
The island will begin a two-part relaxation of the mask requirement in schools next month.
Many people still continue to wear masks in office buildings and on the streets of Taipei. Customers in supermarket stores continue to cover their faces.
Taiwan’s outdoor mask law, which mandated that people wear masks even when walking down the street, was repealed in December.
