Photos of two foreigners begging for money on the streets in Tam Ky Town near Hoi An have gone viral on social media, prompting authorities to step in.

The photos show the two foreigners standing at the intersection of Hung Vuong and Tran Cao Van Street with a sign in Vietnamese saying, “Help. No money.”

The police said they are from Russia and entered Vietnam on tourist visas, Bao Van Hoa newspaper reported.

Local authorities warned them not to beg since it is illegal under Vietnamese laws.

Both have left Tam Ky Town.

Recently a number of foreign tourists have been seen begging at tourist hotspots in Vietnam.
